This guide explains in detail how to install and setup the Internet Chameleon package for use with a dial-up connection. Before you start please make sure that you have the following information:

- your login name or ID

- your password

2. Select the Interface menu and then the Add... option. You will be prompted for an interface name and type. For PPP.

3. Select the Setup menu and use the options on this menu to configure the following parameters:

IP Address : 0.0.0.0

Host Name : leave blank

Domain Name : goldinc.com

Domain Servers : 63.164.70.2 (Only one is needed)

Now select communications option from the Setup menu and configure the following :

Port :

Baud Rate : set to highest speed your modem can handle.

Data Bits : 8

Stop Bits : 1

Parity : None

Flow Control : Hardware

Connector : Set to the port that you have connected your modem to.

Parity Check : leave unchecked

Carrier Detect : leave unchecked

Modem : Highlight the correct model of your modem and click 'select'.

Then click 'setup' and set the Max Speed to the correct value according to the speed of your modem.

Dial : Enter the phone number for goldinc modem pools - 8650400, 4639641 or 392-7409

Login :

User Name : your login

User Password : your password

Startup command : ppp

The software is now configured for use with a goldinc Dial-up account. To connect to the internet select the Custom -Connect Here program and click on the Connect menu option.

Before you can use mail, you must create a user for yourself in the mail system.

1. Startup the Mail program from the Chameleon program group.

2. A dialog box appears with the following fields:

Local:

User : your login name

Password : your password

In real life : your real name eg. John Smith

Local Mail Directory : use the default

Network:

Gateway : mail.goldinc.com

Server : mail.goldinc.com

User : your login name

Server password : your password

'delete retrieved mail from server' must be enabled.

From : leave blank

Make sure the values are correct and choose the OK button. In the Mailboxes dialog select Save button to save the changes.

8. Exit the Mail program by clicking the 'OK' button.

Your mail is now configured.

To connect, all you have to do is double click on the icon 'Custom Connect Here' in the Internet Chameleon window. Once you are in you will see a menu option called 'connect'. Click there to connect.

Your modem will dial in to our system and the dialog box will inform you that you are connected. At this point hit ENTER twice. You will then be prompted to enter your user name. Type in your name in lower case and press ENTER. You will then be prompted to enter your user password. Type in your password and press ENTER. You will then see the command prompt Annie: Type ppp and press enter. The dialog box will then display lines of characters. Click on done and minimize the dialog box. You will now be able to start up your Websurfer, mail, etc.

1. Startup the Custom program from the Chameleon program group.

2. Click on the Setup Menu, select Communications, then Script Edit.

3. In the Script: dialog box, enter the following script:

4. Once you have typed this line in, click on the Save button.
